Shane was also a police officer and a very close friend of Rick’s. While Rick was in a coma, Shane watched after Lori, Carl and other human survivors. When Otis and Shane travel to the nearby school in search of medical supplies for Carl’s wound, Shane does what he must in order to survive. Surrounded by zombies and with an injured ankle, Shane decides to turn Otis into zombie bate. He shoots Otis in the leg which distracts the zombies so he can escape.
