An older man who owns a farm with a barn full of zombies. He is a veterinarian but has enough medical knowledge to save Carl from his gun wound. He doesn’t care much for the group and wants them gone once Carl is healthy enough to leave. Hershel is not fond of his daughter Maggie, fraternizing with Glenn.
