Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Zombie
Question: What’s more frightening than a zombie?
Answer: The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man zombie.
This brilliant piece of work was painted by Dave Macdowell. Amazing skill, fantastic colors and obviously a great sense of humor have been combined to make this sailor. Just look at the textured wrinkles on Stay Puft’s face. It’s as if his marshmallow body had been soaking in water for days and he’s now a water logged, bloated, zombified marshmallow. Not unlike the wrinkled faces of the nazi zombies in Shock Waves with Peter Cushing. Bonus points for the blood oozing eyeballs!
Now, this raises the question. Does he:
A. Eat Humans?
or
B. Eat other giant Marshmallow People?
You be the judge. But for now, be sure to take a look at the rest of Dave Macdowell‘s work.

Frank Darabont Speaks About His Walking Dead Dismissal
For once, the speculation and rumors were pretty much correct.
Last year, AMC fired Walking Dead TV series creator/producer Frank Darabont prior to the season 2 debut. No one really knew the real reason for his dismissal but most had heard it was due to budget cuts. AMC had doubled the episodes for season 2 but slashed the budget in half. Word got out that Darabont was clearly unhappy with this decision (who could blame him?). The assumption was that Darabont had complained to AMC about their tinkering so they went ahead and canned him.
TV Guide recently interviewed Frank Darabont and he as explained the real reason for him being dismissed from the show.
“…I was really given no choice. I don’t understand the thinking behind, ‘Oh, this is the most successful show in the history of basic cable. Let’s gut the budgets now.’ I never did understand that and I think they got tired of hearing me complain about it. It’s a little more complicated than that, but that’s as far as I want to go with it because otherwise it’s just provoking more controversy and that’s not really of interest to me. I just want to keep my head down and do my job and be allowed to do my job, that’s key, and continue to, hopefully, enjoy it and do good work.”
Darabont also spoke about the close knit relationship he had with his cast and crew.
“These people are like family to me. It has not been easy for anybody. Let me put it that way: It was like a death in the family. Only I was the dead guy. I felt like William Holden, face down in the swimming pool, narrating this thing.”
Season 2 of The Walking Dead continues February 12th.
Zombie Wedding Cakes
What’s the first thing you think about when you plan on getting married? That’s right, how much blood and guts you’re going to put on your wedding cake! When having a wedding cake created, one must decide how to gorify said cake. Do you go with body parts dangling off the top pier? Or maybe have it colored red and green stripes with Freddy’s burnt face providing the texture for the icing? Perhaps just have a zombie apocalypse take place on the cake! Check out these killer blood soaked wedding cakes below, via WhoKilledBambi.
The Walking Dead Sneak Peek Episode 208 “Nebraska”
AMC likes to occasionally release a small clip or two for their upcoming shows. Here we have a sneak peak at an episode from the mid season of AMC’s The Walking Dead. In this episode, titled “Nebraska”, we see Hershel conversing with Rick over a drink. Hershel is clearly shaken from what took place at his barn in the mid-season finale. It seems as if Rick is attempting to clear Hershel’s head and point him the direction of sanity. The question is, who are the two men that enter the bar? Are they characters from the book or are they written just for the show?
16 Episodes for Season 3 of The Walking Dead
Things are looking good for zombies. AMC’s The Walking Dead has been given a 16 episode batch for Season 3. Season 2 had a 13 episode bundle and Season 1 debuted with 6. This is good news for fans and I hope the additional episodes will add more plot points from the comic. No word on the budgets yet. Season 2 was given an increase in episodes, but the budgets were slashed for each. That could be one of the reasons for the drawn out parts we saw at Hershel’s Farm. Perhaps they didn’t have enough money to shoot on different locations. Obviously the shows are getting stellar ratings and if AMC continues with this success, the show can last many seasons. Come on AMC, throw some more cash in there and get each season to be better than the last.
In other news, writer/creator Robert Kirkman, still hasn’t confirmed a Michonne appearance in any future episodes. For those of you that haven’t read the comic, Michonne is a major character in the latter issues. “Michonne (pronounced ME-SHAWN) is a mysterious member of the survivor group, and a major character within the series. Armed with a katana and the deadly skills to complement it, Michonne is an effective and crucial defender of the survivors.” Michonne is a fantastic character from the book and she deserves to be in the show.
The Walking Dead Returns with Mid Season Premiere Poster
AMC has released a new poster promoting the second part of season 2 for The Walking Dead. The image for the poster looks like the final shot of last season when Rick witnessed Sophia emerging from the barn as a zombie.
We are about a month away from seeing more of Rick Grimes and company as they try to survive a zombie filled world. I’m sure AMC will have a weekend marathon of the previous installments, leading up to Feb. 12th. However, if you can’t wait that long, season 1 is available on dvd and AMC is currently showing season 2 on-demand.
